Loomshed Brewery was set up by Calumn Bennett in late 2018, and began production Easter 2019, and the tap room is open for people to call in and sample the beers, but it is hoped that range of locally-made Hebridean food celebrating the landscape, crofting heritage and the local character of the people will also be available. Currently, production is "craft keg" (filtered, carbonated etc), and (technically NOT real ale) but cask versions are hoped for if there is sufficient local demand. Beers available are:- "Crofter"- A “British” IPA with robust malt foundation with two hop varieties to add depth of flavour. Look for earthy pine-cones and green-tea ‘matcha’ followed by fruity citrus and blackcurrant. “Iasgair” - (means fisherman in the islands’ native Gaelic.) A Craft lager has a clean bite from the hops gives way to biscuit-malt sweetness. Together they create a balanced taste, and a refreshing but full-flavoured beer Also have a range of special and seasonal brews in the tap-room. In keeping with the local customs, Loomshed does not open or brew on a Sunday. DIRECTIONS - as though you were going to join the ferry in Tarbert, but straight on to Scaplay. OPENING TIMES / Tastings & Tours The premisis licence, which will come into force 1 Oct 2019 will allow both on and off sales, with tastings and tours at 3pm Mon - Sat.
