This popular and award-winning family-run hotel and bar is sheltered by mountains at the edge of Loch Carron. Fanned by warm North Atlantic Drift vapours, the palm trees along the quay are a result of the unique eco-system this creates. The hotel boasts breathtaking views across the bay, with a lounge bar area to the front, two dining rooms and across the road a garden overlooking the inlet. The village itself has much to offer and is a regular haunt for outdoor enthusiasts. Seafood is the speciality on an excellent menu that also features locally-reared beef and Highland venison. Five hand pumps (three in the lounge, two in the bar) feature ever-changing beers from Scottish micros, usually including various brews from the Highland Brewing Company's Swannay Brewery (Orkney), Cromarty Brewing Company and Fyne Ales. Their occasional 'Plockton Ale' is a house ale produced for the hotel by Inveralmond Brewery in Perth, not the nearby Plockton Brewery. Beers are available as tasting platters of three thirds of a pint 'paddles' and in two-pint carry-outs. Closed throughout January. [Update 8 Jun 2024: Following report - "Beers on were Orkney Old Man of Hoy (bar), Fyne Jarl, Williams Bros Joker and Williams Bros Birds and Bees.".]
