Built in the 1850s and beginning its life as an Inn, the "Hotel" opened on 1 January 1930. The Garth is the sister hotel to the Cairngorm Hotel in Aviemore The name “Garth” is derived from the Gaelic word "garadh" meaning “warming.” [Update 29 May 2024: "No hand pumps and no bottled beers. A few keg beers from major brewers, no craft beers. Guinness was 'microdraught', canned beer served at the bar with a bit of theatre. Real ale is not available in this hotel. Information provided by a staff member suggested this had been the case for a while."]
