See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.

One of 19 pubs and hotels around the Cromarty Firth under state control until 1971, The Royal Hotel has a Scottish country house atmosphere with open fires and good local fresh Scottish cooking and is personally run by the new owner, Jenny Henderson. The hotel overlooks the harbour and enjoys stunning views of the Cromarty Firth and the Sutherland mountains. Relax and watch the fishing boats unload at the pier or the yachts at anchor in the bay. Local food including beef from their own family farm at Udale, just five miles away. Locally caught fish and seafood feature strongly, including fresh lobster, herring and prawns (when available). You can take the four car Ferry to Nigg. [Update 8th June 2023: report of no real ale available, keg Cromarty Happy Chappy only.]
