See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.

The family run Seaview Hotel has got to be the most northerly pub on the UK mainland and is the tap for the John O'Groats Brewery which used to be in the old fire station across the road but has relocated down near the harbour. The 26 rooms are well used by "End to Enders" either beginning their John O'Groats to Lands End (JoGLE), or ending the 838 mile journey (LEJoG) by road - mostly motorway, or 1200 on foot. Rooms are in the hotel itself, the cottage or the annex over the road with its invigorating power showers. There is a secure lock-up for bicycles. This is THE local pub with two handpumps and meals served throughout the day. The evening can be very busy and sometimes noisy too. Ideally located for Gills Bay ferry (3 miles) or the seasonal passenger ferry from John O'Groats quay (300 m) to the Orkney Isles. Although John O'Groats is considered the most northerly village on the UK mainland, the furthest north is actually Dunnet Head about 14 miles away to the north west, but Duncansby Head, with its impressive sea stacks, is another 2 miles further east and IS the furthest point from Lands End. You learn something every day!
