Fabulously remote hotel in the picturesque village of Scourie, 25 miles south of Cape Wrath. It lies close to the bird reserve of Handa Island and the peaks of Arkle and Foinavon, and has numerous fishing beats held exclusively for guests. The dining room serves high quality four-course meals featuring seafood, and lunchtime meals are available in the bars. Outside of food hours soup, sandwiches and cakes will be available during the summer months. Two handpumps serve Scottish beers. Scourie Hotel began life in the early 19th century as a coaching inn, but has concentrated on the angling market for the past half century or so. Built by the second Duke of Sutherland as a coaching inn, the hotel stands on the site of an old fortified house looking towards the sheltered waters and white sands of Scourie bay. In the shieling below nestle the gable-stepped houses of Scourie village. Beyond spreads the famed empty quarter of Western Sutherland, a lunar landscape of lochs and Mountains rising into a wilderness sky.
