The Village Inn bar and lounge at the Sinclair Bay Hotel has only recently come up on H&WI's radar as a Real ale pub, having changed hands during the summer of 2019 having been bought by a local couple from Wick, John and Nicola Russell. There is a single hand pump in the Public bar, which offers a rolling selection of different beers which might be from the local John O'Groats brewery or Theakston Old Peculiar. John has invited his "regulars" to suggest beers which he then tries to source. His regulars like this arrangement! The real ale (from the bar) is also available in the Lounge bar where you can also dine but if you would prefer you can ask to use the breakfast room. The Village Inn is set to become the "hub" of the community, hosting local meetings and having a "pensioner day" every two weeks. Takeaway food is also available. Down by the harbour there is space for Caravan and Camper-vans to overnight, and there are electrical hook-ups. Whilst in the area, please visit the harbour and the spectacular sandy beach which goes on for miles. Recent storms have pushed back the sand dunes to reveal an old wooden boat which was shipwrecked. Also in the area are Nybster Broch and Castle Sinclair Girnigoe.
